On this day:

Update past couple of days

Changes:

1. Two nights ago her weight was down to 4lb 1.6oz.

2. Last night her weight was back up to 4lb 2oz.

3. Still having occasional "spells". Usually recovers on her own, may need minimal stimulation.

4. Nasal canula (oxygen) was removed today.

5. Took all 37cc in a regular nipple today for her bottle feed. She took longer to eat with it, but the preemie nipple was flowing too fast and choking her. Keep praying that she masters the regular nipple (another discharge criteria....all feedings taken with a regular nipple without any spells).

On this day:

Tuesday Afternoon

Changes:

1. Gracie is back on 25% Oxygen via nasal canula at 0.5 L flow rate.

2. An order was written for her to get Lasik, a diuretic. Dr. Whitton thinks she may have excess fluid that is contributing to her "spells".

3. She drank all 37cc from the bottle today! Go Anna Go!

4. She is growing very fond of her pacifier. You should see her go to town with it.

Phone Update Monday Night

Changes:

1. Continues to have "spells", once requiring a little blow-by Oxygen to recover from. Last one was just before 7pm.

2. Still maintaining her temp pretty good on her own.

3. Weight continues in the upward trend.....4lb 1oz!

4. Retaining her 37cc feedings....only one small spit up earlier today.

Update Monday Afternoon

Anna has had a couple more "spells" of bradycardia (drop in heart rate) today. We did, however, discover during our visit an empty bottle of breast milk (dated 12-11-04) that had been fed to her within the past 24hr that had anesthesia and narcotics in it. Dr. Manchandia does not feed any milk to her preemies with that in it because she doesn't want it to depress her babies. She is on vacation and Dr. Whitton, the other neonatologist there, feeds the babies any breast milk that doesn't have chemotherapy or radioactive drugs in it. We just took all remaining milk from their freezer that has any narcotics in it just to be on the safe side. We'll see if it makes a difference. In the mean time, she has been put back on one of her meds.

Morning Phone Update

Changes:

1. Anna spent her first night in the open crib; she maintained her body temp fine. This is one of the discharge criteria.

2. She had a couple of "spells" last night where her heartrate dropped below 100(remember she's off her meds, so she may have to get back on one of her meds). This is another of the discharge criteria, for her not to have any of these "spells".

3. Her weight is up to 4lb. 0.9oz (up 0.6oz)! We like this upward trend:-)
